OneAdvanced Hackathon 2025: 24 Hours, Countless Ideas, One Global Team

by Christian BaverstockPublished on 3 June 2025 7 minute read

On May 15th, 2025, the OneAdvanced Hackathon lit up screens and whiteboards across the globe: from Birmingham to York, and all the way to Ahmedabad to Bangalore. For 24 hours straight, colleagues came together with one mission: to harness the power of AI and innovation to make a positive impact on our products and the people who use them.

This wasn’t just a hackathon, it was a celebration of creativity, curiosity, and connection. Our values were on full display, with teams embodying what it means to be Connected and Curious, pushing boundaries and reimagining what’s possible.

This year’s hackathon united talent from across departments and continents. Whether it was building smarter tools for fraud detection, making data more accessible, or introducing cutting-edge AI features into our platform, teams showed how collaboration drives innovation.

One of the most exciting aspects of this year’s event was the inclusive nature of participation. With two distinct prizes, one for technical expertise and one for non-coders, we truly opened the floor to everyone. The result? Some of the most diverse and innovative solutions we’ve seen to date.

The enthusiasm was palpable. Demo videos rolled in, some polished, some hilariously. But every submission had heart, purpose, and an eye toward making our products — and the world — a little better.

If we look back at the history of Hackathon at OneAdvanced, we’ve been iterating how the event is structured, the diversity of the ideas that teams run with and how we ultimately choose the winning ideas and get them to market. Last year's winners Risk Assist and Clockwork Orange, (Risk Assist embedding native assistive AI capability in our Risk Management solution, Governance & Risk, and Clockwork Orange enabling Mobile NFC clocking in to our Smart Biometric Clocks) were excellent examples of how teams can come up with meaningful solutions at pace, both of which have made it into their respective production systems.

The ideas generated over these 24 hours are just the beginning. Many of the prototypes developed during the hackathon will go on to influence future projects, improve customer experience, and even shift how we work internally.

This years winner, PurplerAIn, took our #Connected value to the next level. By incorporating Accessibility tooling directly into our Platform UI, all products built on Platform now benefit, massively levelling up our ability to assist users with diverse needs and better preparing us for further incoming Accessibility legislation. This builds trust with our customers, helps our applications become more inclusive and has since spearheaded many further conversations on how we can theme, uplift and modify our applications experience to that of the users' preferences. It had some hilarious AI voiceover presentation to boot!

A huge thank you to every single participant, coders, designers, mentors, judges, and organisers. Your energy made this event more than just a hackathon, it made it a movement.

To everyone who joined us, you’ve proven once again: when we stay connected and curious, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.
