It’s Okay to Feel, It’s Brave to Share: Building a Culture of Mental Wellness

At OneAdvanced, we often talk about the importance of culture and values, not just in what we do, but how we show up for one another. One of the most powerful examples of that in action is the men’s mental health network we’ve grown together.

This initiative is a true reflection of our Connected value, where we build strong, inclusive relationships, demonstrate empathy, and celebrate our differences. It’s about more than just support; it’s about creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued as part of something bigger.

I started the network back in 2021 with a simple intention: to create a safe, supportive space for people to talk about mental health.

We now meet monthly, and the group is open to everyone. Each session focuses on a topical subject often inspired by what’s happening in the world or brought forward by one of our members.

Whether it’s managing burnout, talking about men’s mental health, or unpacking the pressures of modern life, the conversations are always honest, respectful, and rooted in care.

Our mantra is: “It’s okay to feel, it’s brave to share.” That belief sits at the heart of everything we do. And over time, it’s become more than just words. It’s helped people feel seen, supported, and connected.

I’ve spoken with many colleagues, past and present, who’ve shared how the network gave them a sense of community, language to better understand their own experiences, and tools to support others.

Personally, the journey has been transformative. It gave me the courage to start my own not-for-profit, “On the MENd”, focused on men’s mental health. I’ve completed formal training as a mental health first aider, counselling qualifications, and courses in nutrition, and wellbeing.

I’ve also just wrapped up recording season 4 of my podcast “Said your Nan”, a platform born from this same passion to open up the conversation.

What’s even more inspiring is how our members have stepped up. From monthly wellbeing challenges to taking part in the annual GLOW Walk for mental health, the energy and commitment of this group is incredible.

We’ve turned shared values into real impact, not just for ourselves but for the causes we care about.

This work matters. It reflects who we are as a company and as individuals. And if it inspires even one person to speak up, reach out, or take that first step toward better mental health, it’s worth it.

We’re proud of what this community has become. And we’re always open to new voices. If you are looking for a career at OneAdvanced, and you’re passionate about mental wellbeing, I’d love to hear from you! Reach out
